CMAT

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) Nepal is conducted to provide admission into various management programs in Nepal. This entrance examination is generally taken by students who have successfully cleared high school (+2) and are planning to pursue management programs. The primary objective of conducting CMAT is to assess the aptitude of the candidates and determine their competence for higher studies. This examination is run for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs like BBA, BBS, MBA, and MBS.

CMAT Nepal is conducted under the Faculty of Management, Tribhuvan University, which is a prominent and highly acclaimed government educational institution in Nepal. However, every other university of Nepal has its own criteria for conducting CMAT exams, and they have their respective terms, KUUMAT (Kathmandu University), PUMAT (Pokhara University), PuEMAT (Purbanchal University) and Gandaki University.  

The universities require students willing to enroll in bachelor’s in management programs after the completion of +2 to take entrance examinations that are mandatory. The management programs that require CMAT are Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor in Business Studies (BBS), Bachelor in Information Management (BIM), Bachelor in Business Management (BBM), Bachelor in Hotel Management (BHM), Bachelor in Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM), Bachelor of Mountaineering Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA), Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance (BBA-F), and Bachelor in Sports Management (BSM).

The similar category exam with advance syllabus is also conducted for masters programs like Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and Masters in Business Studies (MBS).

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for the CMAT test, the candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• The candidates must have obtained a minimum grade of C in all grades 11 and 12 subjects or a 1.8 CGPA overall or second division marks in 10+2.
• The candidates can appear for the CMAT exam from any discipline (Science, Management, Education, Humanities, and PCL).

CMAT Exam Structure and Syllabus:

CMAT is a competitive aptitude and caliber test that helps in enrolling in Universities of Nepal and its affiliated colleges. The 90-minute CMAT exam comprises a total of 100 objective questions containing 25 questions in each section with a total weight of 100 marks. The students need to secure a minimum of 40% to qualify for the examination. The test evaluates the ability of the students in different sections like:

• Interesting facts/current facts

Admission Selection Procedure:

1. Written Test/Exam

Candidates must secure at least 40% in the CMAT test. CMAT examination centers are located in various colleges of the respective provinces of Nepal.

2. Interview

Qualified candidates in the written exam are shortlisted for the interview.

3. Merit List

The merit list is based on the course.
For BBA | BIM | BBM | BPA | BBA-F:
• 60% of marks secured in the CMAT Entrance examination
• 30% of marks secured in percentage in plus two or equivalent
• 10% Interview

It is essential to note that the entrance exam called CMAT is conducted under Tribhuvan University, Nepal. However, every other university in Nepal also takes CMAT affiliated examinations. As, KUUMAT (Kathmandu University), PUMAT (Pokhara University), PuEMAT (Purbanchal University) and Gandaki University.                    ,
